cobia on Fly May 18, 2019 obxadmin Leave a comment View this post on Instagram Brian and I never fish on each other’s charters, but today was special group and sea conditions were craptastic, so I was thrilled to have him mate on his day off. It was blowing 20+ when I spotted a pod of cobia. When Pete stripped out extra line he realized he had a tangle, but he made the cast anyway (I would have). They all exploded on the fly! The winner charged off, magnifying the knotty mess. Brian scrambled forward to pull the spool and help Pete pick the knot, while I angled the boat to keep just enough tension on the fish. Micah cleared other rods out of the way and took photos. It took a village of experienced, patient anglers to raise this first fly-caught cobia of 2019! And a whole lot of luck. #oregoninletfishingcenter #sageflyfish #jonesbrothersmarine #rioproducts #patagonia_flyfish #seiglerreels #renzetti #dunmagazine A post shared by Sarah Gardner (@captsarah) on May 17, 2019 at 1:48pm PDT
